Crusaders alumni Erik Nissen, who is playing his 5th and final year at Acadia University this fall, was selected to represent Canada the FISU Games in Taipei this past August.  The Acadia Men’s Basketball site recently published an article about Erik’s experience at the Games and his thoughts on the upcoming season.

  • Erik is only the second Crusader to make a Canadian Men’s National. The first was Joe Walker (Class of 1990) who was selected to the Canadian Jr. National team in 1991. Like Erik, Joe played for Acadia University.
  • Cynthia Roelens (Johnston) of Rothesay was the first Crusader to be named to a Canadian National basketball team.  Cynthia played for team Canada for 14 years which included the 1996 Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta. She also played professionally in Europe for nine years and was induction into Bishops University RBC Wall of Distinction in 2016.
  • Adam Spurrell (Class 2011) and Rachel Farwell (Class 2018) were both invited to Canada Basketball National Team training camps during their high school careers.
