The streak is over!

For the first time the Rothesay High Redhawks varsity boys won the Rip Seely Memorial game. Over the years there has been many close games, especially last year which was decided in the last few seconds, but this year the Redhawks grabbed a double digit lead in the 2nd quarter and held off every KVHS run to win 84-69.

The Crusaders jumped out to an early 8-1 led but Colin Loughery, KVHS’s best rebounder, picked up two quick fouls and had to sit for the rest of the first half. With Loughery on the bench, the bigger Redhawk team were able to build a 39-24 advantage at half time with strong post play and several second chance points from offensive rebounds. In the 2nd half the teams battled back and forth but the Crusaders could never get closer than 8 points.

Player of the game for KVHS was Matt Nam who finished the game with 29 points, 6 ast and 2 rebs. Bryce Miller added 15 pts while Cameron Miller chipped in with 14 pts. Andrew Heron had 8 rebounds and Colin Loughery, despite not playing most of the first half, finished with 7 rebounds.

Leading scorers for Rothesay were Ken Daily with 23 points and Matt Baker 22.
