The visiting Saint John High Greyhounds spoiled the KVHS Crusaders 2017-2018 home opener with a convincing 83-56 win.

The Crusaders started the game strong with Matt Nam and Bryce Miller hitting from outside while the Greyhounds struggled to find a rhythm. However Saint John used their size advantage to create several 2nd chance points with offensive rebounds while Greyhound guards Adam Lambert and Tanner Hoyt attacked the rim off the dribble creating open looks for teammates to take a 23-19 led after the 1st quarter.

In the 2nd quarter both teams struggled to generate offense with the Greyhounds grinding out a 12-7 advantage which included a tough baseline jumper from Adam Lambert as time expired. The 2nd quarter was very costly to the Crusaders, however, as their starting point guard and leading scorer, Matt Nam, had to leave the game with a sprained ankle.

The Greyhound opened the 3rd quarter looking more like the #2 ranked team in the province (http://nbhoops.simplesite.com/430105085) by outscoring the Crusader 23-11 to take a commanding 58-37 lead that the host team could not overcome.

The leading scorers for the Greyhounds were Adam Lambert with 16 points and Jamie White with 12 points. Leading the way for the Crusaders were Colin Loughery with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while Bryce Miller added 10 points.
