The Crusaders haven’t played a game in over two weeks due to weather cancellations and the rust definitely showed in the first half against the visiting Sussex Sonics tonight. Senior co-caption Dallen MacDougall wasn’t going to let his team’s poor shooting night become an excuse. Instead, Dallen turned up the defensive intensity finishing the game with his second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds. He threw in 5 blocks for good measure while leading the host Crusaders to a 76-62 win.

The difference in the came game down to a dominate 3rd quarter from the Crusaders when Gavin Trites and Keegan Miller combined for 16 points. KVHS won the quarter 25-10. The sonics, who only trailed by four (34-30) won the 4th quarter but were unable to cut into the Crusaders lead over the final 10 minutes.

The Crusaders’ leaders were:

  • Ryan Pollard – 18 points
  • Gavin Trites – 18 points & 6 assists
  • Dallen MacDougall – 11 points, 10 rebounds & 5 blocks

The Sonics’ leaders were:
