This past weekend the juvenile boys team from the KV area called the Immaculate Collection won the BNB Juvenile A provincial championships in Dalhousie, NB. The team consisted of:
- Brent Kignston (KVHS Grade 12)
- Jordan McGill (KVHS Grade 12)
- David Gainforth (KVHS Grade 12)
- Jesse Bartlett (KVHS Grade 12)
- Jacob Calhoun (KVHS Grade 12)
- Ryan Vaughan (KVHS Grade 11)
- Simon Gagnon (KVHS Grade 10)
- Alex Whelan (Rothesay Grade 12)
- Brad Van Steeg (Rothesay Grade 11)
- Kevin Seely (Rothesay Grade 11)
This group has been competing for a provincial title since 2000-2001 when they started playing in the KVBA mini rep program. Although this is their first title together, they have definitely been close many times in the past, especially two years ago in midget. That year KVHS lost to Leo Hayes in the provincial semi-final, then two days before midget age class Brent Kingston broke his ankle.
In the opening game of this year’s tournament the team beat Riverview by 31 points which was a bit of redemption for the Crusaders on the team considering they lost to that same team in the NBIAA regional costing them a trip to the Aitkin Center. They followed up that win with a 2 point victory over Fredericton, a 15 point win over Moncton and a 50 point win over a injury depleted Dalhousie team.
