If you weren’t convinced the the KV area girls are a dominate force, last weekend must have changed your mind? Both the Rothesay High Redhawks and the KVHS Crusaders varsity girls teams won their respective regional tournaments and will be heading off the the Aitken Center this weekend for the NBIAA Final 12 Championships.
The KVHS Crusaders upset the Riverview Royals with a dramtic 3 point win in the AAA regionals. The hero was Ashley Bawn who nailed a 3 pointer with 4.9 seconds remaining, but for those who watched the game know it was a complete team effort for Crusaders. Not only does the victory give these girls their first trip to the Final 12 but they get to face defending champ Bernice MacNaughton Highlanders.
The Redhawks are also off to their first Final 12 appearance. The girls had a very impressive regional tournament hosted by Dalhousie High School. They beat Bonar Law by 30 points and John Caldwell from Grand Falls by 24 points. Rothesay will also be facing a defending champ when they take on Carleton North High School.
