The Crusaders started hot and never looked back as they got their first league win for the 2018-2019 season, defeating the visiting St. Malachy’s Saints 99-56.
KVHS co-captain Dallen MacDougall set the tone early hitting five first-quarter 3-pointers and finishing the period with 17 points. The Saints responded in the 2nd quarter, briefly cutting into the lead, however, seniors Ryan Scott and Colin Loughery took control for the Crusaders in the final 5 minutes of the first half to make it 48-28 for the home team at the break.
The 3rd quarter was all KVHS as they used a swarming defense to hold the Saints to only 11 points and to push the lead to 81-39 after 30 minutes.
The Crusaders were led by Colin Loughery with 25 points & 9 rebounds while Dallen MacDougall added 21 points on 8 for 10 shooting. The Saints were led by Isiah Rose with 13 points and Alex Small with 12 points
The Crusaders’ next game is Tuesday, December 11 when they visit Saint John High school. Tip-off is 7:15 pm.
