It’s been a busy but successful week for the young Crusaders as they get two important league wins to improve to 3-2 with victories over Sussex and Saint John High.
Earlier tonight the Crusaders hosted Sussex and came away with a convincing 87-48 win. The host team was led by Colin Loughery with 32 points and 10 rebounds while Ethan McKee added 11 points off the bench. The Sonics leading scorers were Kristian Janes with 15, Jacob Church with 10 and Alex Mason also with 10.
On Tuesday night the Crusaders visited Saint John High School and came away with an 84-74 victory. This was a game of runs for both teams. The Greyhound jumped out quickly with an 11-3 start. The Crusaders responded with their own run, fueled by full-court pressure defense to finish the 1st quarter with a 22-16 led. Saint John High then won the 2nd quarter 24-11.
The second half was much the same with the Crusaders winning the 3rd quarter 31-11 with the Hounds turning it around to win the 4th 23-11.
The Crusaders were led once again by Colin Loughery with 38 points and 20 rebounds. Ryan Pollard added 12 points. The Greyhounds were led by Brady Dempster with 23 and Yun Sun with 11.
They Crusader head to Fredericton tomorrow for the Rick Cotter Classic. The face-off with FHS at 1:30 pm at Bliss Carman and play Riverview at 10:00 am on Saturday also at Bliss Carman.
