Last night the KVHS Blue Knights hosted the Sussex Sonics in the battle of the two remaining undefeated southern conference AAA teams. The game was exactly as advertised with both teams playing well and the stars for each team stepping up.

The first half belonged to the Sonics. They built a 17 point lead by out running and out shooting the home team. But the Blue Knights were able to put together a couple of mini runs in the final 3 mins of the 2nd quarter to end the half down 10 at 42-32.

The 3rd quarter was all KVHS as they rode the hot hand of Liam McKee who tallied 17 points in the quarter to erase the Sussex advantage and to take the lead at 60-59 after 30 minutes.

The final quarter was very well played by both sides. Each time it looked like KVHS might open a comfortable lead, the Sonics would respond making it a one point game again. In the end, KVHS got a couple of offensive rebounds by Adam Butler and a few timely steals to pull out the 4 point victory 79-75.

Leaders for KVHS were :

  • Liam McKee with 33 points
  • Jack Way with 19 points & 13 rebounds

Leaders for Sussex were:

  • Matthias Muscroft with 32 points
  • George Walker with 21 points

KVHS improves to 4-0 in league play, 9-3 overall.
